Summertime Smackdown

Ok... ok. So, no more hyperventilating... it's not that bad... I haven't gained too much weight (only 3lbs since the wedding & over Christmas). But... my pants don't fit right. I'm back into my fat comfortable pants again and I'm not one bit pleased about it. I know that I don't have much time before the honeymoon to slim down, but at least I can make a start of it right?

So here's hoping for some changes in the New Year. If I tell you all, then I have to do it. For one, I have a gym buddy. We go twice a week together (good start there) and I'm hoping to go once by myself. OK, once a week. There are also two other ladies and myself that are going to do the jogging club through The Running Room come springtime. If they go and I don't, I'll look mighty mighty bad right? So there you go. No cheating!

I'm also cutting back on the sweets. There are frozen cookies in my freezer and no more being made (promise!). Not until after the honeymoon at least. AND, I hardly have any sweets stuck in my desk drawer at work! Plus, everyone knows that they are are more then welcome to raid my stash. For the time being though, my snack drawer consists of: cheerios, kashi granola bars & Triscuits (the really good olive oil & rosemary ones YUM). I'm also trying to pack more fruit for snacks. I've started with babybels and yoghurt as well (to tempt me away from the sweets).

AND on top of all that, I managed to cut down to one cup of coffee a day! Woohoo!

So here's to the New Year with plenty of cheer!! That's right! I'm not giving up the WINE! HA! You can try to pry it out of my greedy little hands!

Merry Warmers

Ack! It appears that I've been quite deviant in posting here. Life has just run away on me again and I have just not remembered to post here.

Here is a project that I completed about a month back. LOVE these! Not only do they fit nice (on anyone) but they look nice on as well!

Pattern: Merrywarmers by Lisa Reeve

Yarn: Lana Grossa Meilenweit 50 Seta/Cashmere

Colour: 10 (well, I call it beige)

I also did another set with Marks & Kattens Fame Trend yarn (number 650 if you're interested). It changed from light grey to almost black. Really pretty (but I have a feeling that they will be partly itchy, that's what happens when you let the hubby pick the yarn!).

Another thing that has been keeping me busy is my part time job with Obleek (found on Etsy here). I'm primarily cutting fabric at this point, but after the holidays I'll be shown how the pieces fit together on the sewing machine. I'm having a ton of fun and the fact that it's my job too? Well, icing on the cake!

Anyways, I aught to go, I have to do some surgery on a stuffed animal. More on that one later too! It's a surprise!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Mara and Me

I've been busy this month spending time with friends, reading and doing some light knitting. I started this next project the same week that my friend Katy came to town. We had a fantastic afternoon/evening sitting in the hammock reading/knitting/snacking together while listening to music. It was such a nice day that I didn't want it to end. But end it did.

This past week has been bright and cheery filled with the making of cookies (by my MIL), making Green Tomato Relish (with my MIL), making of bread, cleaning, finishing two books and preparing for a party that we're hosting tomorrow night (for our baseball team) Our team ended up in last place, but we had such a great team. So here's a toast to my team for being so supportive (even when I struck out!).

I'll be getting some cans of the Green Tomato Relish later. If anyone is interested in the recipe, e-mail me!

Pattern: Mara by Madelinetosh (found on Ravelry here )

Yarn: Mystery yarn, acquired at a yarn swap from Sulicat

Colour: Dusty Rose (almost like that carpet stuff, but not as dark)

How is it Tomorrow Already?

It seems like only yesterday that I made that last post! Things have been hurtling themselves into the future with alarming speed.

This past weekend we were up in Saskatchewan by Pierce Lake Lodge doing some camping with some new friends. It was so nice to get out of the city and enjoy the water again. The weather wasn't co-operating as much as we were hoping for, but we didn't get rained on. We even managed (in our infinite skill) to pick enough Saskatoon berries to make 2 (2!!!) pies out there! I made my orange cakes again. I don't think I could have eaten any more that day.

The weekend before that we were in Canmore for hiking and visiting. It was beautiful! We did the Ptarmigan Cirque. At the top of the trail, nestled in the valley, are tons of rocks that have fossils in them as that part of the mountains used to be in the water! Amazing!

My hubby and I also celebrated our first anniversary this weeked. We had the house to ourselves for a change and enjoyed every moment of it. We watched TV. I know, not entirely romantic, but it was nice just to sit and relax (after unpacking from camping) and be in each others presence. Last night we went out to the Keg for dinner to celebrate. AND because I'm weird/thoughtful/strange (insert something here) I made desert when we got home. We have some fantastic Peach-Rasberry Crumble. I had to tell him that it was terrible, just aweful, that he really wouldn't like it... but I can't lie to save my life! *lol*

I hope that everyone out there in internet land are enjoying their summer and everything that goes with it. I'm hoping to get back on track soon! Pictures are promised for the next post!
